TRON: Legacy

Since the revamp of Fangirls on Felucia, we've introduced two of our favorite movie franchises outside of Star Wars. Now it's time to talk about a third topic, TRON: Legacy! We both have similar tastes and reasons for why we love this movie but we're going to explain them in this post.

Tron: Legacy is an incredible sci-fi movie by Walt Disney Pictures, featuring a continuing story of the 1980's movie, TRON.  The movie follows the story of Sam Flynn as he deals with finding his lost father in the video game world that was just a bedtime story to him for years. Sam teams up with Quorra, a strong female character, and his assumed missing dad, to save the Grid from the disasterous clone of his father, the evil CLU, Rinzler, and their army.  Watch TRON: Legacy to see their story unfold, in a dramatic, electronic, epic way!!

Savanna- Fallon and my other friends from The Lakehouse Forums were the ones who actually prompted me to watch this movie. I usually don't stay up to date with current movies...my heart goes with the old classics. However, I decided to check this one out because it looked really cool and everyone was raving about it! It only took me a few minutes until I fell in love with the characters, story, and music that made up TRON: Legacy. At first the plot had me a little confused but, my brother cleared up all my questions quickly because he had seen the original TRON from the 1980's and knew what was going on. Other than that, TRON: Legacy really left me speechless!! Kevin Flynn, Sam Flynn (AKA the king of hotness), and Quorra are such awesome characters!! I love Quorra's inner strength and curiosity about the outside world. Kevin's mental battle with feeling defeat from Clu was really interesting and Sam was just....just....*faints*. Have you seen pictures of this guy?! Seriously girls, he's pretty freaking amazing if you catch my drift. The soundtrack was the definition of epic too!! Daft Punk did an incredible job matching tones and moods of The Grid through music. Oh, and did I mention flipping amazing action?! All of the light cycle and disk matches were full of awesomeness! All around, a fantastic movie!

Fallon- After hearing nonstop about the amazing-ness of Tron from my dear friends Lareen and Tara....I decided to give it a try. I saw the movie for the first time when staying overnight at a friend's house, and I was hooked within two minutes of seeing Sam Flynn's incredibly hot face. I have loved it ever since, and watched the movie one more time online before it was Christmas time....which is when my Tron fandom REALLY took off. I recieved a lot of Tron action figures and the movie on Blu-Ray and DVD.  I watched it Christmas Day night, and several times since then.  The movie is amazing, the technology in it is incredible, the story line is fun, it has a really good family feel to it. I love Quorra, she's probably my favorite character, and I like her interaction with Sam Flynn. I'd love to see their relationship more. Clu already held a special place in my heart, because one of my best friends on the Grid LOVES Clu. I also like Tron/Rinzler, who's backstory is really interesting!  Kevin and Sam's relationship makes me tear up at the end every time....just because it's such a good father/son dynamic!! Besides the action, plot and characters, the MUSIC is just flawless in this movie!!!! It is AMAZING. Daft Punk is AMAZING. I think that's all for now....now enjoy this beautiful Sam/Quorra picture I love.

Hey, I’m Jamie! I’m the authoress of the blog Through Two Blue Eyes. I’ve been asked by my two dear friends Savanna and Fallon to be a co-author for Fangirls Of Felucia! Meaning, you will be seeing me post here about every other week on this blog from here on out till either I get too busy or I die. :)

Well, for starters, I’m a seventeen year old young lady: a Christian saved by grace through faith and a fangirl of many things, two of the biggest being Star Wars and The Avengers. I’m known for my love of Chewbacca the Wookie, being a die-hard Captain America fangirl, and being hilarious. I love reading mysteries, watching mystery shows, and writing mystery novels.  Blogging is my favorite past time and I enjoy meeting new people! 

My Star Wars story is simple. I’d never seen Star Wars or even really heard much about it at all while growing up. I din't even know that Darth Vader was Luke’s father. New Years Eve of 2010, during our wait for the opening hours of 2011, my dad let my sister and I watch A New Hope for the first time. My world has never been the same. Star Wars blew me out of the water—it was awesome; it had great characters, great plot, awesome weapons, thrilling battles, neat costumes… it was just awesomeness. We saw Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi several weeks later and I’m now hooked for life. The Original Trilogy won my heart like no other film had. We watched the Prequels later in the year, and while they were different and a little disappointing, I enjoyed them too, especially Revenge of the Sith. 

Star Wars is now such a large part of my life that it’s hard to imagine when it wasn’t. I have the t-shirts, sport the Rebel symbol on my jewelry, it comes out in my speech, and all other films are now held up against them. Chewbacca stole my heart before either Luke or Han could. I will not hear of Luke being called a whiner and I stood up for Han personally when ALL my real-life friends called him a jerk. I like those two equally. I consider Obi-Wan the cream of the crop when it comes to the Prequels. Leia is my biggest heroine. The Originals are my overall favorites. 

Now for how I got into the Avengers!

Like Star Wars, I wasn’t raised around superheroes of any kind. I wasn’t even interested in watching superhero films until I read a review for Captain America: The First Avenger. I didn’t know hardly a thing about it except that it was a superhero film set in World War II. My dad took me to Harkins to see it; it was more amazing than I had even imagined; I laughed, I gaped, and I cried twice (which is huge, because I never—never—cry during movies). I walked out of Harkins in the clouds; it’s still one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. And Steve Rogers was such a refreshing hero; respectable, honorable, and a fighter. I was blessed to see it twice on the big screen. And, like Star Wars, I was hooked. 

  

Thor, Iron Man, and Iron Man 2 came along afterwards and I’m a die-hard Avengers fan now. I will freely admit that I am looking forward to the Avengers film MORE than I was ever looking forward to any of the Star Wars films (I had my first melt down watching their latest trailer---for the first time in my life, I lost control and ran around our house screaming. Picture that as literal as you can make it. And if you know me… that’s big). I claim the title of being Cap’s biggest fangirl and he will always be my favorite. Is there anyone besides Steve Rogers? Yes. Loki also has a soft spot in my heart as well (even though my sister was ready to disown me when she found out about it!)

So, that is how I became a fangirl! I’m so excited to take my fandom experience to a new level by blogging here at FOF. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all better and providing some good posts for you to read! Clone Wars Review: Brothers

Now I'll be honest. I was quite disappointed with this episode. I didn't like it half as much as I thought I would, and I wasn't at all anticipating the return of Darth Maul. Everything was really shrouded in mystery for a while, and I was hoping that TCW would do something really, really cool with Darth Maul's return...but not really. As my sister put it- "He lived in a dumpster with a spider butt held up with duct tape and he went mental from talking to that stupid snake like, twenty years."
(exact quote...thank you Glo-girl).

I pretty much agree with my sister's assessment. Darth Maul was FREAKY. There was so much potential to bringing him back...and personally, I didn't like the way they went with. I'm sure it all has a purpose but the only thing I see happening is him dying all over again. I mean...they can't kill Obi-Wan (again), so we're running out of options.

Two things I did like, (before I go off on the stuff I didn't)...I liked seeing Anakin and Ahsoka, even if their part didn't exactly fit into the rest of the show. I liked that Anakin could sense something familiar from long ago though...it was kinda foreshadowing.

Another thing I liked- Ventress and Latts got a cameo from last week's episode!!! I love Latts now...she's epic. And I love Ventress too!! It was nice to see them, even if only for a second.

Savage was okay.  I felt bad for him honestly. He wanted to find his brother, after everything else was taken away from him, and all he got was Insane-Creeper-Maul and an annoying-as-all-get-out Snakey Guy.

The Snakey Guy....oohhh boy.  The second it opened it's mouth to talk I knew I hated it.  That did NOT feel like Clone Wars...it looked like something from The Black Lagoon...or something. It's voice was annoying too. I do not blame Savage for strangling it...I was about ready to!!!

Another thing I liked...before I get into Darth Maul...I LOVED the music.  The music selection was great for this episode. Ominous but also it had hints from The Phantom Menace's soundtrack in there too. Nice touch!

Now Darth Maul...yikes. I didn't like his appearance at ALL. He was really really really freaky looking, and SERIOUSLY INSANE. I was cursing in my notes again...this time in serious confusion though. Darth Maul's voice was pretty creepy...his laugh was literally insane. I liked that he used the Mortis "chains" quote. I was like "OH WOW!! MORTIS!!"  For those of you who don't know...Mortis was my favorite arc.

Obi-Wan was awesome at the end, and it's leaving me BEGGING FOR BETTER EPISODES NEXT WEEK.  I really am nervous for Obi-Wan, as he is one of my favorite characters.  I don't want to see anything bad happen to him.  Even though I already know his fate. Anyways. I give this episode a 4/10.  It wasn't great. I didn't enjoy it and I'm hoping next week will be better. Until next time my friends, may the Force be with you!!

Avengers Assemble

As part of our revamp of FOF...Savanna and I concluded to make it a "fandom friendly" blog!!  We'll celebrate all fandoms that strike our fancy...mainly focusing on Marvel Comic Super-heroes/Avengers, Disney's TRON: Legacy, and Indiana Jones!!  Star Wars will always be our main focus, and the posting schedule when it comes to TCW reviews and other posts will remain.

Anyway, I'll get to the point of this post!  This is Fangirls on Felucia's FIRST EVER AVENGERS POST. WOO!! I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE Avengers fangirl. If you don't know what The Avengers are....you are either A. living under a rock, or B. need to buy some movies.

The Avengers are a group of super awesome super-heroes who each have their own stories and joined forces to fight for the good of America, and the World.  They call themselves "The Avengers", or "Earth's Mightiest Heroes". I'll break down a bit more about each Avenger, and what the Avenger fandom really consists of. Joining me in this post is my fellow Avenger fangirl Tara, who is my go-to-girl for all things Marvel and Avengers!!

Captain America, the First Avenger.  Captain America is my favorite Avenger, he's amazing and I love him.  But moving on.  Captain America is actually from the 1940's. And this is where a few of you who have been living under rocks say to me:
"But Fallon, isn't he like...OLD???"
Yes, yes he is. But allow me to explain. Captain America's real name is Steve Rogers. Steve is just a guy from Brooklyn, New York, who became America's first ever Super-Soldier. He was injected with a special serum that changed his overall appearance and gave him superhuman strength and power. He fought in World War II, defeating the evil H.Y.D.R.A. agents and their leader, Red Skull/Johann Schmidt. Steve sacrificed himself to save the world, and spent 70 years in suspended animation (frozen in carbonite...so to speak) so when he woke up, he was just as young looking as he was when he was frozen in the 40's, except he was in 2012. Watch the movie Captain America: The First Avenger for Steve's full story.

Tony Stark is Iron Man.  Tony is, in his own words, a "multi-millionaire playboy philanthropist". Iron Man is heroic, though he only came about when Tony Stark, a brilliant inventor and the head of Stark Industries, was in dire need of escape. He built a super-suit to power his way out of encampment when captured by terrorists who wanted him to build him a weapon. Later, Tony realizes that he can use his super suit, which is powered by an arc-reactor that keeps him alive, for good!! He saves the world from evil, and he turns out to be a very good person in the end. Iron Man, and Iron Man 2 (the sequel) show us that Tony does have a heart for humanity, so to speak, and also a heart for Pepper, his personal assistant.  Though Tony’s character mainly consists of his cocky-self-centered-egoistic nature, you can tell that he does have a sincere concern for good in the world.  Iron Man is my (Fallon’s) second favorite Avenger.  

Black Widow is another one of my (Fallon's) favorites. SHE is a kick-butt super spy, who looks a lot like my favorite Star Wars character, Mara Jade. Black Widow's real name is Natasha Romanova, and she is one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top agents. She was featured in Iron Man 2, when she helped Tony Stark save the world from evil-doers. Known for her advanced skills in self defense and acrobatics, Natasha is a force to be reckoned with. I can't wait to see her in Avengers, where she will be back and better than ever, defending SHIELD and the world from evil!!!

The Hulk is my least favorite Avenger. His true identity is Bruce Banner, a scientist who was infected with Gamma ray toxins that, when his emotion runs high, turns him into a giant rage monster, the Hulk. When the U.S. government tried to control The Hulk's rage, they ended up causing more problems for themselves and the world when experiments go wrong and worse monsters are created!! Ultimately, the Hulk saves the world but ends up going back into Exile, because the Government thinks he's an just a monster, even though he saved them! The Hulk returns in The Avengers movie, and I am interested to see where his story goes.

Clint Barton aka Hawkeye is the master archer of the Avengers team. He first appeared as a cameo character in Thor, under the name Barton. Agent Coulson ordered for “a eye in the sky,” and Clint grabs his high-tech bow to stop Thor from reclaiming the Mjolnir. The skirmish ended before any arrows were let free. For the Avengers movie, Hawkeye upgrades from cameo to Avenger. Sporting the most high-tech bow money can buy, and being nothing less of the greatest archer in history, {not to mention his handsomeness}, I can’t wait to finally see him in action.

Thor is officially titled ‘The Mightiest Avenger.” Thor is the God of Thunder and heir to the throne of the realm of Asgard. In the Thor movie, because of his selfish, greedy actions, he is exiled from Asgard by his father, the King Odin. Meanwhile, his younger brother Loki becomes king and then begins a plot of revenge against the neighboring realm. Powerless and mortal on earth, Thor meets Jane Foster, an astrophysicist, and falls in love. Thor has to overcome his pride and reclaim his weapon, the Mjolnir hammer, to save the earth and all 9 realms from his brother’s schemes. By the help of his friends who came to earth to rescue him, Thor returns to Asgard to face Loki. The fight ends with Loki defeated, and fallen into a wormhole. {later you find out that’s how he gets to earth for the Avengers} As for the Avengers, Thor returns to earth {we don’t know how until the movie} to help fight his brother who is bent to dictate power over humanity. Thor is my (Tara’s) favorite hero, closely followed by Hawkeye and Captain America.

Clone Wars Review: Bounty

Before I start this review, I'd like to thank everyone who gave me feedback on last week's review, I know it was a tad bit controversial, but they were simply my opinion and thoughts.  I'm happy there was some good discussion though, so thanks!

Now, onto Bounty.....this episode was GREAT!!! Possibly one of the best in Season Four this far!!!  I was very impressed.

I honestly went into this episode with low expectations.  Last week's episode still left me a bit upset, and I was not expecting Bounty to be such a knockout episode!!!

Things I loved:
Jawas!!!  VENTRESS!!!! She was incredible!!!  Boba Fett!  He was cute, and he had the most adorable Clone accent.  Bossk and Dengar and the other Bounty Hunter Chick!  The Ninjas!  And so much more!

Now I shall discuss.  WOW!!!! WOW!!!!! That was awesome!!!  The first thing I liked was Ventress.  She was pretty darn kick-butt in the beginning.  She was on Tatooine, and you see that it truly is a hive of scum and villainy.  The cantina is pretty cool, and they play a new song!  The amount of bounty hunters were so cool!! We even got a little Embo cameo!  Embo had a puppy!!!

The really, really cool Bounty Hunter chick with Bossk (his girlfriend...ahahaha), Latts, was awesome!!! She reminded me of "Poison Ivy" from Batman with her vine like whips.  Dengar was really cool.  I wasn't sure what to think of Dengar, since I don't really know much about him....but from what I DO know, as an EU fan, this really really really makes the EU even cooler.  If I have my facts right, Dengar helps rescue Boba Fett from the Sarlaac pit.  Could he remember Boba, the punk kid who led the mission on (THAT PLANET) with the valuable bounty?  I kind of hope so.  It's cool that they cross paths so long beforehand.

Also, just to mention, Dengar's voice was pretty darn cool, for all the controversy that surrounded the voice actor portraying him, Simon Pegg.

I have to thank Bounty for turning me into a Boba Fett fangirl.  I never really liked Boba before...I mean, sure he's iconic, and cool, and has a jet pack, but I always thought of Boba as that guy that Han knocks into the Sarlaac pit by accident.  Not very heroic or epic of him, huh?
TCW really changed my point of view of Boba.  I liked him in Season Two's finale, and I like him a lot more now in Season Four.  He was a leader, and a really cool guy!!!!  He was cute too, from a girl standpoint.  And I seriously LOVED his voice!!! Daniel Logan did a fantastic job....because Boba really sounded like a Clone Trooper in certain lines, which made my fangirly little self squeal and get super excited.

The really cool planet (INSERT NAME OF PLANET HERE) was awesome for me, because it was purple!!! My favorite color!!! And the sub-train thing looked like something from Tron, one of our new focuses here on FOF!!

Okay, next thing....the NINJAS.  WOOAAHHHH TCW JUST GOT A BILLION TIMES MORE EPIC.  THEY PUT NINJAS IN TCW.  Seriously, if you think about it, the "robbers" looked like Ninjas, they used cool vibroblade-swords, and had really cool hand-to-hand combat skills.  I loved it!!!

This episode had a real "train robbery" feel to it, like you'd see in old TV shows and movies.  Really fun concept, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

As we know, I am all about Character Development.  I now LOOOOOVE Asajj Ventress.  She has a CHARCTER, she has a STORY.  One reason I liked one of those Nightsister episodes in last Season (though I didn't really love them all) was the one with Ventress's back story, because it added more to her story.  Excellent.

Ventress has been burned time and time again.  Nothing but pain and loss for poor Asajj, and in one second, after one mission where she sees someone who she can relate to, she changes her whole outlook.  Her "I have a future" statement at the end left me literally applauding.  My mom was applauding too.  Beautiful.  I loved it!
On top of that, she was really epic, with her use of the Force, her lightsabers and simple hand-to-hand combat.

Now....as soon as that chest was opened, and the girl rolled out, I literally wrote "WHAT? CONFUSED....." in my notes.  I was honestly perplexed.  What was going on?  And why was the head ninja hugging her?  Brother?  Say whaaaaat?

TCW, that was fabulous.  Absolutely perfect.  I loved it.  It held a plot twist, and it made Ventress think, and made the viewers think!!!  I loved Boba, and how he ended up in the end, while the girl and her ninja-brother had a happy ending.  It was so good!

I don't have anything negative to say really....except that I didn't like the centipede bug thing that Girl and Ninja-Bro rode out on.

Fabulous TCW, I really enjoyed this episode!!!!!  I give it a 10/10!!!! Home run with Bounty!!!!

Clone Wars Review: Massacre

I'll be honest and say that I outright hated this episode.  I did not like any of it.  I was thoroughly disappointed.  And I am not usually one to "hate" on any TCW episodes, so this is a big deal.  I also promise that I WILL find a few good things to say about the episode, despite how much I disliked it.

One must let go of the past to hold onto the future.
Okay, great.  That fortune cookie was pretty cool sounding, I could see a lot of possibility to work that into an episode.  But I didn't see this in Massacre at all.  Perhaps at the very  beginning when Ventress spoke with Mother Talzin, but after that, the plot was eaten by zombies and witchcraft and voodoo.

From a Christian standpoint, this episode had a bit of questionable stuff in it.  I wasn't to pleased with the witchcraft (it  makes me feel uneasy, no matter what shape or form it's in...I don't like Harry Potter for this reason), nor did I like the voodoo that Mother Talzin used on Dooku.  I found both gross and disturbing.  I also very much HATED the zombies, but I'll get into that in a moment.
Another thing from a Christian standpoint that didn't sit well with me was when toward the beginning, Mother Talzin makes Ventress a full Nightsister, and she says this:
"You are now reborn, a sister of the night.  Now we shall feast, to celebrate the baptism of our newest sister!" (or something like that, I didn't catch the full quote on my notes).
REBORN.
BAPTISM.
Using those words in particular with a ton of witchcraft made me literally sick to my stomach.  I did not like that at all.

I don't want to be super negative, so I will point out a few things I DID like.  First thing I liked was the Nightsister's weapons.  I love their bows and arrows, and seeing them in action was really cool.  I also liked the planet of Dathomir and the home of the Nightsisters.  I really loved the animation and thought it was beautifully done, as always.

Now I'll hate a bit more....the zombies.  Oi vey.  Seriously?  I didn't like the zombies when they had them in the Geonosis arc, but it wasn't that bad.  The Nightsisters Zombies threw me over the edge.  As if I didn't already dislike the episosde enough.....

I'll let you know now that I am NOT a fan of anything scary.  Zombies, Werewolves, Vampires, Witches, Ghosts, Halloween....I HATE IT.  I don't do horror, I don't do freaky, I don't do scary.  It's just not my thing.

Now.  Grievous has never been my favorite character of TCW, but I don't hate him!  And his little duel with Ventress was pretty cool, except that the zombies took over and screwed it up for me.

I feel really bad for Ventress though.  It's failure after failure after death after failure for her.  Why can't she WIN once?  Why??  At the end she was practically in tears, and I felt awful for her.  (see, i have a heart)

I did not like this at all.  My notes included multiple "ew" and "gross" and "%^&*" in it.  Not good.  I'd give this episode a 4/10 stars.  Not an episode for young kids, and not one for me.
