Clone Wars Review: A Friend In Need

**WARNING!!!! THIS POST CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR A FRIEND IN NEED**
This highly anticipated episode for fans of Star Wars the Clone Wars was a total shocker and plot twister of an episode.  I was terrified to see it.

AND I HAD PERFECTLY GOOD REASON TO BE!!!!!!!!!

I cried.....I screamed a LOT....I cursed a little.....and majorly I freaked out more than I probably should have.

Lux Bontari returns in this episode, after a very controversial appearance in Season Three of TCW. He and Ahsoka have been paired together by some fans, much to the displeasure of anti-AhsokaRomance and Rexoka fangirls.....but he was only in two episodes.  Which was why we were all EXTREMELY worried to see these episodes!!!!

Goodness.....
Okay, I will first point out the good things.  It started out quite interesting.  We saw mini-cameos of some favorite characters, including Padme Amidala, Bail Organa (*scream!!!!!*), Mon Mothma, and Duchess Satine Kryze (*SCREAM*).  At first it was simply political, and their were some mean politicians (pfftttttssshhhh....no comment....) but then LUX BONTARI shows up, and Ahsoka gets all antsy.  She tells Padme that she didn't know that Lux was invited, to which Padme replied that she didn't either.

After getting himself into trouble for speaking out against Count Dooku and wanting to avenge his mother's death, Lux gets taken away by some droids, and AHSOKA CHASES AFTER HIM.

I honestly honestly honestly HATE HATE HATE HATE LUX LUX LUX LUXXXXXX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yay for repetition for emphasis!)

a poorly edited picture of him to show my hate....
UGHHHH.  His and Ahsoka's little flirtatious looks in that meeting were KILLING ME. I threw my pen at the TV.  Then when she said that she was his "betrothed", I screamed.  IN TOTAL ANGER.

Okay, fangirliness aside....I did enjoy the stuff with Death Watch, the animation was AMAZING, and the action was EPIC.  Ahsoka's battle with Pre Vizsla (YAY FOR VIZSLA!!!!!  WE ARE PRO-VIZSLA ON FOF!!!), was AMAZING, as was her mini battle with Bo Katan. (Bo Katan is epic!  I hope we see more of her!!!)

Lux is a wishy-washy loser in my opinion, I really hate him.  The fact that he and Ahsoka KISSED REAAAAAAAAAAALLLYYY made me mad.  I was CRYING I was so mad!!!!!  Crying....screaming....doing a Luke "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!"......

Let's just say it wasn't pretty.....Look at my show notes...they're messed up.

Okay.....calming down....I really enjoyed the Mando action in this episode....it was awesome!!!!  And Ahsoka really can kick butt with her lightsabers!!!

WOOO JETPACKS!

Over all, I'd give this episode a 6/10....it'd be more if Lux and Ahsoka didn't kiss.....and by the way, the ending where their fingers touched on the glass made me want to puke. I am utterly distraught.

Thanks for reading this crazy, fangirl emotionally whacked post!  What were your thoughts on this episode?

  2. Oh you poor girl...that does sound horrible! DIEEEEE LUX!!!!! I mean it's sci-fi already. We don't need any cheesy teenage romances (sorry AoTC) to mess it up!
I'm kinda glad I don't watch TCW ....But I enjoy reading about from you!

  3. The romance was gonna happen from day 1. It's not shocking and the kid doesn't bother me much at all. Not sure of all the hate for him. The hand to the glass thing reminded me of a season from LOST a little bit

  4. LOL!!!!!! I totally cracked up when I saw your notes! XDD Winter and I can so relate. We have been freaking out all night. (As you and CBC both know from our gmail chat earlier tonight.) Winter killed:

    5 candy canes
    2 notebooks
Uncountable amount of things thrown at walls

    All because of Luxoka.

    That kiss......

That....that...engaged stuff.....the...the LOOKS!!!!!! **wants the scrape eyes out**

Lucasfilm, if you are reading this, PLEASENONONOPLEASE! I BEG OF THE! NO LUXOKA!

  5. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was doing a Tobuscus commentary the whole time I watched this episode because it was sooo pointless. Yes I loved the action but it had no meaning when it comes to story. The * Beheading* part was pretty sweet, but at the same time I was like wha? You know! For kids! and then I was like I'm so confused. When it came time for the "Kissing Scene" I just went BARF! and then proceed to tell Dan about my reaction via Skype. So to calm down I went to watch Blue Shadow Virus. I was all happy once again, so I decided to check my Facebook and low and behold the first thing I see is a pic of Lux and Ahsoka KISSING! My night was then ruined and still is lol. Why Clone Wars, Why! Very, very good review!

  8. WOW! Clone Wars history has been made!! Ahsokah is with some randonish man and she's also not following the Jedi Code! *blunders about room in daze* I don't watch Clone Wars, but I know bad story handling when I see it!!!!

    You poor girls... :(

    Comforting hugs, Jamie

  9. Ok, as Fallon's mom, she is not kidding about screaming and throwing things. Hey Fallon, that's a new tv, watch it will you. Ok, can I just say "I told you so!!!" I predicted this last session. It's nice to see, teenage girls are the same in the intergalactic world as they are here on earth. Oh, Ashoka, you are so much better than Lux. Don't be blinded by "puppy-love". Look at how you took out half of deathwatch with no weapons. I wonder if Ashoka and Padme will "chat". Won't it be ironic, with Ashoka ends up just like Padme. Betrayed by the ones they thought cared for them. By the way, Fallon, nice review. Can you please turn in your school-work today (preferably without torn up notes). Mom

  11. I think the plot twist was pretty good, since they gotta get rid of Ahsoka by ROTS, this could lead to something.

  12. haha wow this review had me laughing but i completly understand i get really emotionally over episodes like this too though i hate to say that after this episode i love lux/ahsoka *dodges bullets* I loved the ending where their fingers touched the glass and the whole kiss scene, hehe though i admit at some points i really wanted to knock some sense into lux (and ahsoka hehe) but i thought they made a cute couple. I agree the fight scenes were awsome and the animation was INCREDIBLE kudos to the whole cast and crew. in my opinion it was an OUTSTANDING episode but i'm more anxious to see next week's episode. Love your post though

  13. Now you know how I feel about Luke and Mara... Luke: best hero of the saga, getting paired with the Emporer's right hand girl... SERIOUSLY?
I hate cheesy teenage romances. It's cool that the bounty hunters returned this time!

  14. I just don't understand the hatred for Lux. Yes, it is a shame that they decided to go down the "cheesy teenage romance" road, and I wish they would handle that a little better. But ALOT of people seem to have a serious hatred for Lux Bonteri. I just don't understand...

  15. I was VERY mad after that kiss. I wanted to get Lux so badly. My feelings matched up with your post perfectly, only, Jedi that I am, I hid them ;) And Ahsoka made me feel like a disappointed parent. I was cheering for her one moment and scolding her the next. She did good, but Sux is on my LIST!
I really don't have a high opinion of Bo-Katan. I thought she would be noble and awesome. She was just a big bully, the way she treated Ahsoka. I don't want to see her anytime soon. And when she slapped Ahsoka on the bum I felt like doing the same to her.
So, this episode was epic yet made me want to gorge my eyes out. *6/20

*I give it a six out of twenty because six out of twenty is way less than six out of ten.

  16. OMG!!!! Haha I so agree!!! I'm so glad there weren't any books or other heavy objects handy when I watched it for the first time. My TV would be broken now.

Haha, but I still loved the ep!! I mean, come on, what girls doesn't enjoy screaming/jumping up and down/throwing around a few SW curses/ ...screaming?? Haha, I've watched the episode at least a dozen times. It can't be healhty. xD
